Lighting practise

Here we had a practise with lighting. For this task me, Hyleana, Courtney and Rae used an iphone 6 and torches off our phones to get the pictures shown below. We did this for the easy transportation from phone to blog.

Backlighting

here we used back lighting where the camera is behind the subject, creating a silhouette. This could be used in our thriller to create mystery, due to the face being hidden.

Artificial light

On this picture we added an effect to create the usually blue-grey hue. For this we added an effect on Courtney's phone. I know this is not lighting but didn't know how to create this effect without the right equipment.

3 point fill lighting

Here we used 3 different torches (with the help of ceiling lights as well): Courtney was the key light with the camera, I was behind Hyleana with the backlight and Rae was the fill light. This created a normal looking scene. As you can see the object, or in this case, Hyleana is in focus.

chiaroscuro

This shot is chiaroscuro.  Harsh lighting is used to create contrast on the face. This lighting is common in horrors and dramas. For this photo we made Rae climb under a table to get complete darkness. It casts shadows on the face and makes features look sharper.
